Around Haendel’s work “Israel in Egypt”, the Ensemble Baroque de Rennes offers a mixed repertoire, at the crossroads of Baroque Orient and Occident, at the intersection of paths. Focusing on themes of travel and exile, exchange and hospitality, the artists present works related to Haendel’s music and his oratorio. Because music quotes and borrows, it draws its origins from the past, and it is the blend and encounter that allow the creation of always new pieces, in a living future.
The Ensemble Baroque de Rennes is part of the diverse projects of La Pie qui Joue, a company made up of professional musicians. To make the small voice that lies within each of us heard. The small voice that has open ears, thirsty for sharing and curiosity, the small voice that loves to sing, dance, and encounter stories.
These stories may be ancient, but they still resonate with our present, they transform themselves. These musics are sometimes opportunities for solitude, sometimes occasions for encounters. We can speak, we can sing, we can listen, dream, drift off, forget… Together or alone, for a short time or a long time.
