Ving Rhames faced an unexpected situation on April 29th at Granville restaurant in North Hollywood. The 66-year-old actor, who started his career alongside Michael J. Fox and Sean Penn in Brian de Palma’s “Casualties of War,” suddenly collapsed at his table while having lunch with his family.
A witness at the scene shared with TMZ that the actor appeared to be losing and regaining consciousness intermittently. Concerned about the situation, emergency services were called for the actor who famously portrayed Marsellus Wallace in “Pulp Fiction.” A spokesperson for the Los Angeles city fire department confirmed to TMZ that the medical assistance call for the actor was made at 1:40 pm and the aged patient was eventually taken to the hospital.
Hospitalized, Ving Rhames remained upbeat, with his representative stating that he seemed fine and was cracking jokes shortly after his hospitalization. According to TMZ, the actor was able to return home around 6 pm after a few hours of observation. The representative mentioned that the actor may have suffered only from a heat stroke, reassuring worried fans.
Furthermore, it was revealed that Ving Rhames, in addition to his acting career, also has a compassionate side. During the 1993 filming of “The Saint of Manhattan” in New York, he befriended a homeless man, providing him with food and clothing, only to realize later that the man was his long-lost brother, Junior, who had lost touch with the family after serving in Vietnam. Ving Rhames took his brother in, showcasing his kind-hearted nature beyond his tough on-screen persona.
