In 2022, Jacques and Thomas Dutronc toured France on the occasion of their Dutronc & Dutronc tour. A series of concerts that once again proved the bond between father and son. An artistic, but above all, a familial chemistry. On April 28, 2026, Jacques Dutronc celebrates his 83rd birthday. The author of the hits “Et moi, et moi, et moi” and “L’Opportuniste” received a touching gesture from his 52-year-old son for his birthday. On Instagram, Thomas Dutronc wished his father a happy birthday with a poignant image: an archival photo of him at the age of two, in his father’s arms.

An archival photo between father and son

50 years later, the photo resurfaces on Instagram, with an inscription in pen stating: “Papa et Thomas en Corse nov 75.” In the photo, the young boy is already wearing a leather jacket reminiscent of the great rockers, in the arms of his father (also dressed in a leather jacket), both smiling. Alongside this photo, Thomas Dutronc wrote in his post: “Papa et Thomas en Corse nov 75, my mother’s handwriting telling me that I was two and a half with this nice leather jacket… HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!

The guitarist did not forget to mention his mother, Françoise Hardy, who passed away two years ago in 2024. He had previously paid a heartfelt tribute to her during the unveiling of the commemorative plaque in her honor in the 9th arrondissement of Paris last January.

Thomas wants to stay close to his father… but not too close

Today aged 52 and 83, Thomas and Jacques Dutronc are very close but still maintain their distance. In an interview with Nice-Matin in July 2025, the son revealed that he did not wish to live in the same house as his father: “I adore him, but I need to have my own space, my own rhythm… I need to be the boss in my house. Because as soon as we’re with him, he’s the boss!

However, he confessed a few months later to Gala that he felt the need to remain close to his father in case something happened: “Dad is 82 years old, and even though he’s been taking care of himself for a few years, I feel the urgency to spend more time with him.” Today, Jacques Dutronc has left Paris (and his son is considering doing the same) to settle in Corsica, on the island of beauty. In his haven of peace, located in Monticello, the singer has left behind the Parisian hustle and bustle for the Corsican warmth, the land where he married the mother of his son, Françoise Hardy.
