The festival will begin on Wednesday, April 22 at 10:30 am at the library with “Nina”, a musical bubble dedicated to the universe of Nina Simone. Presented in collaboration with the Krakatoa, this show offers children from 2 years old the opportunity to discover the childhood, life, and work of the great artist through a two-voice narrative by musicians Charlie Dales and Hugo Berrouet. The watercolor illustrations by François Cha will accompany this journey into the singer’s universe. The animation is free, by reservation (05 56 88 63 90 or mediatheque@lebarp.fr).
On Friday, April 24, the stage at Bateau Lyre will come alive at 6 pm. After the scheduled inauguration at 7:15 pm, the Big Band Barp, composed of musicians from the Val de l’Eyre music school, will kick off the evening. At 8:30 pm, at Le Brass, a dynamic and communicative blues brass band will perform. The program includes essential soul and blues standards, from Aretha Franklin to Etta James and The Blues Brothers. A refreshment stand will be operated on-site by the volunteers from the music school.
Costumed promenade On Saturday, April 25, events will start at 3 pm with the carnival departing from the Bateau Lyre parking lot. Costumed promenades and animations will enliven the afternoon before a particularly dense musical evening. At 7 pm, the group Five in the Mood will accompany the dinner-concert with a repertoire that mixes Charleston, swing, smooth jazz, and Latin influences.
At 8:30 pm, at “Human” square, the Sandra Cipolat Trio will offer experimental soul jazz influenced by Jacob Collier, D’Angelo, Herbie Hancock, and Tigran Hamasyan. Finally, at 10 pm, the Bokale Brass Band will close the festival in the festive spirit of New Orleans.
Between concerts, children’s shows, carnival, and friendly moments, this edition confirms its commitment to make jazz accessible to everyone.
