The 3rd Festival of Music and Sounds at the cinema, organized by the associative cinema Culture and Cinema in L’Isle en Dodon, took place from March 30 to April 12. Thirteen intense days of vibrant cinema, with eleven eclectic screenings, and over 200 spectators in attendance.
The final Saturday night confirmed the success and great atmosphere of this event, which is becoming a prominent part of the cultural landscape of Comminges.
“A promising balance”
“Everything started on Monday, March 30,” recalls Pascal Le Vaillant, president of the associative cinema Culture and Cinema, “with trumpet player Aymeric Avice, internationally renowned, and his accomplices Benoît Convers and Thibaud Soulas of the Happy Moon Trio, warming up the room before the film Ange, by Tony Gatlif. A record start for the festival. The evening Vassiliu, from Pierre to daughter then offered an intimate journey through the singer’s work, a mix of documentary and live concert by Lena Vassiliu.”
A formula that defines the festival’s DNA, where images and music interact, filling up the room naturally. In terms of discoveries, the KPop session around the film-concert Stray Kids: The DominATE Experience attracted loyal fans and curious attendees, sometimes from afar, demonstrating the festival’s influence beyond the district.
“The highlight,” Le Vaillant continues, “was the closing on Saturday, April 11, with a morning session of musical illustration of a silent film by Buster Keaton, by Nicolas Di Costanzo on drums and sound effects, and Antoine Moulard on the piano. In the evening, Labo 7th, a formation by Mêmes and Rémy Rimbaud, all three teachers at Musical’Isle school, composed and interpreted the last cine-concert, on the film The Artist. Magical moments.”
And the next day, as a bonus, the Friends of the Organs offered a concert by the Mandolinata from Tarbes, with the support of Culture and Cinema. The program included, wisely, some famous film music, a friendly nod to extend the spirit of the Festival.
The organizers invite the audience to next year’s fourth edition, which promises to be ambitious from the outset.
