The Vietnamese Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) has presented its scientific research report: from the beginning of the year until October 2025, it has published over 2,300 scientific articles (including over 1,700 in ISI/Web of Science indexed journals) and obtained more than 100 patents. With over 2,000 international publications per year, the Academy shows a pace of about 1.7 publications per doctoral student per year, comparable to leading research institutes in developing countries. It maintains its top position nationally in terms of the number of international publications, according to the Nature Index ranking.

Exceptional results in strategic technological areas: By adhering strictly to the List of strategic technologies specified in Decision No. 1131/QD-TTg of June 12, 2025 by the Prime Minister, the Academy has achieved many exceptional results.

Regarding artificial intelligence (AI): Development and mastery of the manufacturing process of AI-powered autonomous driving modules for autonomous electric vehicles; building AI/IoT solutions for real-time detection and warning of health anomalies in livestock; developing models to predict the health of rice plants based on deep learning.

In biotechnology: Successful application of precision editing – the most advanced genome editing technology currently available – to restore the function of the Rc gene in rice; identification of a new unique variant on the TLR4/MyD88 axis associated with colorectal cancer, providing a biomarker for personalized medicine; successful isolation and culture of several cell lines for artificial meat research.

In energy and advanced materials: development of a basic water electrolysis technology to produce hydrogen from solar/wind energy; fabrication of nanomaterials for applications in thermotherapy, MRI imaging, and drug delivery; creation of next-generation Li-ion battery electrode materials (MoS-Se@Gr) with high energy storage efficiency.

Promoting digital transformation: Regarding the processing of electronic documents and archives, the Academy has implemented an efficient and synchronized electronic document processing system: 100% of files are fully processed on the VAST-Office document management and exploitation system; all documents are digitally signed using specialized official digital signatures issued by the Government Cryptographic Committee; 7,655 documents were exchanged via the national document interconnection system in 2025. The VAST-Mail system has created over 4,000 official email accounts. The vast.gov.vn electronic portal has recorded nearly 4.8 million visits.

The Prime Minister visited VAST and collaborated with it. Notable advancements in technology, AI, biotechnology, and materials were discussed during the visit. The Prime Minister praised the efforts and contributions of scientists and emphasized the importance of science and technology in the nation’s development. He highlighted that skilled individuals are crucial for national advancement and emphasized the role of intellectuals and scientists in creating new knowledge and technologies for the country.
