Many integrated management processes, organic farming techniques, and post-harvest conservation technologies have been successfully transferred. (In the photo: a model of passion fruit cultivation on substrates in a greenhouse by VietLife High-Tech Agriculture Co., Ltd. – Bao Loc).

Scientific and technological tasks are linked to the needs of businesses.

According to Ms. Pham Thi Nham, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, scientific and technological projects are developed and implemented based on the specific needs of industrial enterprises. Emphasis is placed on supporting technological innovation, improving production processes, increasing productivity and product quality, as well as efficiently using resources and energy. Digital transformation is gradually being integrated into scientific and technological programs and projects, encouraging businesses to adopt digital solutions for production management, traceability, quality control, automation, and equipment monitoring.

In the agriculture and processing sectors, a series of integrated management processes, organic farming, and post-harvest conservation technologies of popular products such as durian, macadamia nuts, and passion fruit have been successfully transferred. Additionally, the livestock and aquaculture sectors have also made significant technical advancements, including mastering high-yield cattle farming techniques and intensive sturgeon farming techniques, thereby creating a stable source of raw materials for the food industry.

Efforts to support businesses in improving their competitiveness through technical standards and regulations have also been fruitful. Between 2021 and 2025, Lam Dong province supported 125 companies in implementing advanced quality management systems, such as ISO, HACCP, GlobalGAP, and the 5S method. It provided hundreds of codes for cultivation areas and packaging facilities, as well as over 820,000 traceability labels with QR codes. Furthermore, the province’s digital infrastructure is rapidly developing thanks to the Intelligent Operations Center (COI) and data sharing platforms, creating a strong legal and technical framework for businesses to confidently undertake comprehensive digital transformation.

Many activities to support startups

Furthermore, Lam Dong province has implemented numerous initiatives to develop an ecosystem of innovative startups, gradually strengthening human resource capabilities and creating an increasingly professional environment to support startups in line with the needs of industrial production development. Through more than 20 intensive training programs and the creation of coworking spaces within universities, the skills of startup workers have been standardized and professionalized. Support for innovative startup projects and companies has also yielded many tangible results. During this period, 21 startup projects and companies received direct support.

Moreover, through forums, startup exhibitions, and investor matchmaking workshops, over 10 supply and demand matchmaking events were organized, attracting the participation of hundreds of companies and investors, resulting in the signing of 86 cooperation agreements.

According to Ms. Pham Thi Nham, despite the progress made, the application of science and technology in some industrial enterprises remains limited, focusing mainly on small-scale improvements and lacking bold investments in fundamental technological innovation. Many companies, especially SMEs, still face challenges in terms of capital, qualified human resources in science and technology, and access to new technologies, leading to uneven innovation capacities. The link between scientific research and practical needs of industrial production is still weak in some areas and will need to be strengthened in the next phase.
