Sonia Mabrouk, a journalist, recently announced her departure from CNews on February 6 and from Europe 1 on February 13. In an interview with Le Figaro on February 20, she revealed her decision to join BFM-TV, owned by Rodolphe Saadé (CMA-CGM). Mabrouk had left media outlets associated with conservative billionaire Vincent Bolloré due to controversy surrounding the continued presence of host Jean-Marc Morandini on air. Morandini had been definitively convicted of corrupting minors. At present, Morandini has stepped away from the airwaves.

“I wanted to remain true to the standards I set for myself in my profession. These standards rest on constant demands and a keen sense of responsibility, especially regarding offenses against minors. When the situation becomes untenable due to a final court decision, I take the necessary steps,” Mabrouk stated to Le Figaro. She added, “This judicial decision was a bombshell that strained my relationship with the management of CNews.”

Mabrouk explained that she chose to move to BFM-TV to “commit to the long term, within a strong editorial team.” According to BFM-TV, as reported by Le Monde, Mabrouk will lead a major political program in preparation for the 2027 presidential election. Despite expecting her second child, Mabrouk expressed to Le Figaro that she will return to the airwaves next season.
