The organizers of the 24 Hours of Le Mans have decided to turn an important page this year. After more than twenty years at the circuit’s microphone, Vincent Cerutti will not be participating in this highly anticipated new edition. This decision comes a few months after the conviction of the presenter for sexual assault, a case he has appealed, citing an act inspired by Twilight. On their part, the Automobile Club de l’Ouest primarily refers to a desire to “evolve the setup.”
The 24 Hours of Le Mans turn the page on Vincent Cerutti
A symbolic voice of the 24 Hours of Le Mans since the early 2000s, Vincent Cerutti will not be present at the 94th edition, organized from June 10 to 14. An absence that marks a real change for this legendary race, created in 1923 and followed every year by thousands of car enthusiasts. According to information shared by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, this decision is part of a desire to modernize the event’s entertainment. The ACO specifies that they have chosen to “focus this year’s presentation of the 24 Hours of Le Mans around Bruno Vandestick, a symbolic voice of the event for many years.” At the moment, Vincent Cerutti has not publicly reacted to this dismissal.
This announcement also comes in a delicate context for the 44-year-old presenter. Last February, Vincent Cerutti was convicted of sexual assault, a judicial decision he has since appealed. Even if the ACO assures that this change responds to an evolution of its setup, this case continues to fuel discussions around the event. Despite this controversy, the organizers aim to maintain the prestigious image of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, considered one of the most iconic races in the world alongside the Indianapolis 500 and the Monaco Grand Prix. This new edition is expected to blend automotive tradition, spectacle, and innovations to attract a wide audience to Sarthe.
An XXL music program awaits in Sarthe
Beyond the automobile competition, the 24 Hours of Le Mans also remain a must-attend festive event. Every year, several artists perform alongside the races to entertain the spectators at the circuit and in the city center of Le Mans. After the remarkable performances of Eddy de Pretto, Pascal Obispo, Kungs, and Kool & The Gang last year, the organizers have once again focused on popular headliners. This varied music program is intended to sustain the atmosphere throughout the event. Between rock, electro, and French variety, the audience will enjoy several concerts organized throughout the week of festivities in Sarthe. The concerts will kick off on June 10 with Jean-Louis Aubert, former member of the band Téléphone. The following day, Pete Doherty and his band The Libertines will take over in front of the expected crowd. Then, on June 12, German DJ Robin Schulz will participate in the grand parade organized in the city center of Le Mans. Finally, during the weekend, Magic System and Mosimann will ensure the ambiance at the circuit. With this eclectic program, the 24 Hours of Le Mans confirm their desire to combine endurance racing with popular entertainment. The organizers hope to attract both endurance racing enthusiasts and fans of music and outdoor shows.
