Since her victory against Léa on February 7th, Ambre has been one of those Star Academy winners that their fans eagerly follow. Signing a contract with Sony Music after her triumph, the 18-year-old singer had hinted that her first album was in the works. But weeks passed, months flew by, and the singer, who chose Amber Jadah as her stage name, remained surprisingly quiet about the progress of her music project.
But on Thursday, May 21st, the wait finally came to an end, at least in part. On Instagram, Ambre shared a short black and white video, the long-awaited first glimpse of her upcoming single. The caption simply read: “Ambre is coming.” This ignited excitement among her fans and raised the question: by choosing her first name rather than her stage name Amber Jadah, has the singer decided to change her artistic identity?
Rock, black and white: Ambre reveals the atmosphere of her debut single
In this teaser, Ambre appears in a bodysuit, with intense gaze and meticulous makeup, moving in a dark and electric universe punctuated by flashes and storm effects. A dramatic aesthetic that immediately brings to mind the visual universe of Lady Gaga, her openly admitted idol. A few seconds later, she reappears wrapped in a long hood and perched on high boots. A radical change of look, far from the demure image some knew of her.
In the comments, the excitement is palpable. Reactions abound, between impatience and admiration. “Very beautiful launch, we can’t wait to see more. It’s great Ambre that you’re taking your time to release something you love and that reflects you. Congratulations on this start,” wrote one. Others hailed it as “the most anticipated single in history,” while some struggled to contain their excitement. A strong start for someone preparing to take their first solo steps.
Why did the singer take her time?
While some fans were getting impatient, Ambre had her reasons for taking her time. In the podcast La belle vie de Fred Laquet, she explained her process with honesty: “For me, it’s normal to do this. It’s good to go against the tide to be proud of what we are going to deliver and not regret it later. Even if it’s a bit paradoxical because everything is going very fast.” The young singer also confirmed that she planned to sing in French and collaborate with other artists on this album.
Among her artistic encounters, her meeting with Mosimann, a former participant of the Star Academy, started off on a bit of a misunderstanding. “I had a studio appointment this morning with Amber Jadah, to make music. I got the time wrong. I went to bed at 6:30… and the thing is, Ambre, she arrived an hour early. Meaning that when I woke up, it was like that, and from that moment on, it’s been a series of studio sessions and interviews,” the DJ revealed on NRJ. A chaotic start, but evidently productive!
