Cécile de Ménibus reveals her family tragedies: “My aunt was murdered, my little brother, sister, and father are deceased”
Cécile de Ménibus shared her family’s heartbreaking stories with Gala.fr. She opened up about the numerous tragedies that have marked her life. She mentioned, “My aunt was murdered, my little brother, sister, and father are deceased. I had a very complicated and heavy life for years. When I was young, it was very tough and burdensome.” Despite these challenges, Cécile, who celebrated her 55th birthday last September, still finds strength in her mother, whom she affectionately describes as “amazing.” In her 2020 book, “Je voudrais tout prendre d’elle,” published by Charleston Editions, Cécile delved into her family history, recounting her mother’s losses, including the tragic death of two of her children. Catherine, Cécile de Ménibus’ mother, first lost a two-year-old son to a 15-meter fall before the heartbreaking loss of her first-born in 2015.
Cécile de Ménibus speaks up about her sister’s suicide: “If I don’t talk about it, I make her die again”
Why does Cécile de Ménibus revisit this still-painful wound? Perhaps she cannot help it: “When I think of my sister, everyone tells me, ‘We’re not going to talk about it because it’s sad.’ But if I don’t talk about it, I make her die again! So, I talk about it all the time. But I don’t want to live it as a tragedy. My sister is here, she is with me, my little brother, all those I have lost.” Despite the ongoing grief, there is no intention to dwell in despair. Cécile emphasized, “All of this must transform; otherwise, it’s pointless. I experienced the tragedy, it was very violent, especially losing my sister, who was almost like a twin. All of this must serve a purpose.”
