The lead singer of the Rolling Stones has just begun filming the next gothic film by the Italian director Alice Rohrwacher, featuring a high-profile Hollywood cast.
At 82, Mick Jagger is going strong. The Rolling Stones frontman is currently filming in Alice Rohrwacher’s first English-language film, “Three Incestuous Sisters.”
Alongside him, Dakota Johnson, Josh O’Connor, Saoirse Ronan, Jessie Buckley, and Isabella Rossellini have already been announced. The filming is taking place on the island of Stromboli, not far from Sicily, where Roberto Rossellini set the plot of his eponymous film with Ingrid Bergman in 1950.
Alice Rohrwacher is directing her fourth feature film here, following “The Wonders,” “Happy as Lazzaro,” and “The Chimera,” which were acclaimed at festivals.
Based on the gothic graphic novel by Audrey Niffenegger, “Three Incestuous Sisters” will tell the story of three sisters living in an isolated house, vying for the love of the handsome son of a lighthouse keeper.
Return to Cinema
The rockstar is making his comeback to the big screen. While he has appeared in around ten films since the 1970s, he has been less visible in the film industry since the 2000s. His latest appearance was in Giuseppe Capotondi’s “The Burnt Orange Heresy,” released in 2019.
Additionally, the Rolling Stones recently revealed two excerpts from their upcoming album “Foreign Tongues,” with “In the stars” and “Rough and Twisted.” Set for release on July 10, 2026, this will be the twenty-fifth studio album of the British group, now consisting of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood – and the second album since the passing of drummer Charlie Watts.
