On Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at 7:25 pm, helicopters from the army flew over the northern part of the Sarthe department as part of a military exercise covering the Manche, Sarthe, Morbihan, Orne, and Mayenne regions. The exercise, involving 600 soldiers, 24 attack and maneuver helicopters, and drones, will take place until June 4 outside of the usual military areas.

Aero-terrestrial military exercise planned between the Manche, Sarthe, and Morbihan from Wednesday, May 20 to Thursday, June 4, 2026. This operation includes troops from the infantry and artillery of the Marine Corps, with their base at the Auvours military camp (2nd RIMa) near Le Mans.

The exercise is divided into two parts: from May 20 to May 26, helicopters will fly over various locations in the Manche and Morbihan departments. Additional flights are scheduled from June 2 to 4 in a triangle from Le Mans to Laval to Argentan. Reconnaissance flights began on Wednesday above the Passion-Liberté aero-club near Beaumont-sur-Sarthe, as shown in the video provided by the club.
