Change is coming for Novak Djokovic. The Serbian, ranked 4th in the world, revealed on Wednesday, May 20, that former Serbian player Viktor Troicki is now his head coach. “Welcome, my friend, teammate, and now coach… Viktor Troicki,” wrote the former world number one on his Instagram profile, who will celebrate his 39th birthday on Friday. Viktor Troicki, aged 40, a former world number 12 and captain of the Serbian Davis Cup team, was part of Djokovic’s team when he won Olympic gold at the Paris 2024 Games on the clay courts of Roland Garros.
A year after parting ways with his former coach and former Big Four rival, Scotsman Andy Murray, who had been by his side for six months, Novak Djokovic is expected to unveil the composition of his new coaching staff this week, just a few days before the start of Roland Garros (May 24 to June 7). In pursuit of his 25th Grand Slam title, Novak Djokovic was already seen at the side of Viktor Troicki during a training session on Tuesday at Porte d’Auteuil.
