On May 30, boxer Emilie Sonvico will compete in an IBA world championship against Moroccan Mahjouba Oubtil. This is a historic event for Uzès and a new step in Sonvico’s quest for titles. Sonvico, a European champion and WBC world champion, will be fighting at Trintignant arena in Uzès, where she won the European title last July. This time, she will be vying for the IBA welterweight world title against Mahjouba Oubtil.

The event has taken on special significance in Uzès, as the world title belt was recently presented at city hall during a press conference. This marks the first time such a high-profile event will take place in the city.

Emilie Sonvico’s coach, Salem Maharzi, emphasized the importance of hosting this event in Uzès and highlighted the role of the local community in making it happen.

With less than two weeks until the fight, Sonvico is fully focused on the upcoming match on May 30. Fighting at home is a significant change for Sonvico, who has spent much of her career traveling away from Gard.

Leading up to the official weigh-in on May 29, Sonvico is making final adjustments and focusing on maintaining her weight. Despite the pressure, she remains confident and is looking forward to the challenge.

Sonvico sees the IBA title as a step towards her ultimate goal of unifying various world boxing titles. Currently holding the WBC title, she is determined to add the IBO and IBF titles to her collection.

The event on May 30 will not only feature Sonvico’s fight but also include a total of eight matches at Trintignant arena. The evening will kick off at 8 pm with three professional fights and five amateur matches, featuring athletes from the Uzès boxing club. Doors will open at 6 pm, allowing spectators to watch the Champions League final between PSG and Arsenal on a big screen.

Ticket prices for the event are 30 euros, 20 euros, and 15 euros for children, with partner tables available upon reservation. For more information, contact 06 77 55 42 87.
