For the second edition of the citizens’ tour, “The Region at your side”, regional elected officials were on the market this Sunday.

Rachida Lucazeau and Guillaume de Almeida Chaves, regional councilors and local elected officials from Tournefeuille and Saint-Loup-Cammas, admit their surprise at the crowds observed at the Montastruc market this Sunday: “We meet a lot of people to the point of seeing at times a small queue forming in front of the stand and, beyond the questionnaire to be completed, real exchanges are taking place, very constructive. Our presence here outside of any close electoral calendar seems appreciated.

Started in April and continuing until the end of July, the “Region at your side” operation is taking place in the region’s markets and offers a 6-point questionnaire to best target the expectations of the citizens of Occitanie. Identify three actions of the regional council considered to be the most important, define one as a priority, make a remark, propose, suggest improvements, all accompanied by an index of satisfaction and attachment to the region, these are the points to be informed. The analysis of the responses will aim to improve and sometimes make changes to the actions carried out thanks to this citizen participation. An approach which, underlines Carole Delga, Regional President, “makes it possible to better anticipate crises, to ensure the preservation of quality of life and to build the future of Occitania together”.

Among the popular actions, transport with the support of the TER of the SNCF (Regional Express Transport) and the fight led by the region for the Toulouse Bordeaux LGV. Also included is the health policy with more than 120 doctors recruited (target 200 by the end of 2028). The regional council has opened 26 “My health my region” centers since 2022 and 233 health homes. He helped with the reconstruction of 4 hospitals and the renovation or creation of medical internships. Finally, guaranteeing equal opportunities for young people and supporting farmers and wine growers complete the list of actions deemed essential. The questionnaire mentions other areas of intervention: aid to businesses and job creators, construction and renovation of high schools, support for cultural and sporting actors, organic and local meals in canteens. . .
