Microphone under the desk, camera above the water fountain… If the case of Karim Hamyani is not (yet) a movie scenario, behind the scenes lie the same intricate threads. The practices of the “little prince of Marseille tech,” accused of “espionage” by four employees who filed a complaint for these actions on January 13, are at the center of a report drawn up on the same day by a commissioner of justice – the new name for bailiffs – which La Provence was able to consult.
Self-taught and technically brilliant according to general opinion, Karim Hamyani came to fame in 2022 when he received a visit from the then Minister of Labor, Olivier Dussopt, at his Marseille premises. At the same time, his company specializing in the sale of used phones, Ninety, had attracted the interest of investors.
The monitored break room
While Karim Hamyani denounces “manipulation” orchestrated by a former partner, the bailiff’s report describes a reality far from the corporate world.
“Presence of a camera and a hidden microphone above the false ceiling” in the employees’ offices, “a CCTV camera above the water fountain“…
