North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has declared that plans to strengthen frontline units on the border with South Korea, as well as other major units, are essential to “deter war more rigorously,” state news agency KCNA reported on Monday.
Kim made these remarks on Sunday during a meeting with division and brigade commanders from the entire army, KCNA reported.
He called for an adaptation of the training system and the expansion of practical exercises to reflect the changes in modern warfare and the military development of North Korea, according to KCNA.
Kim also indicated that the planned projects should redefine operational concepts in line with the rapid modernization of military equipment and techniques, and apply them to the combat training of units.
KCNA reported that Kim emphasized ideological loyalty and vigilance against the “enemy jur,” a term used by North Korea to refer to South Korea.
