This is still a hypothesis. A shadow cast on 2027. A scenario that its adversaries wave as a danger, that its voters expect as a deliverance, and that the National Rally is now preparing as a serious possibility. The RN has not yet won the next presidential election. But, for the first time since its foundation, it approaches the deadline as a favorite, regardless of the name written on the ballot. And this time, he is no longer thinking only about the conquest of power: he is already thinking about its exercise.
Because on the evening of a victory, everything would change in nature. It would no longer be a question of denouncing “the system”, but of naming, arbitrating, signing, deciding. The protest would give way to the initialers. Slogans to decrees. Campaign speeches to the cold mechanics of the State. “It should not give the feeling of revenge, but of taking back control» slips a frame of the movement. The whole challenge of the first hundred days would lie in this crest line: restoring authority without nourishing the image of brutal power; embody the rupture without frightening the country; speak to the electorate of the RN without worrying, from the first weeks, the economic actors.
The first days would therefore be those of symbols and men. Matignon, Beauvau, Bercy: the three towers of control of a power that would immediately like to make its mark. The Ministry of the Interior would become, more than ever, the political showcase of the new five-year term. Even before major laws, an RN government could act by circulars, by instructions, by appointments, by administrative doctrine. OQTF, foreign delinquents, naturalizations, residence permits, public order: everything that concerns the concrete application of the State would be scrutinized. “It will be necessary to send an extremely strong first signal », summarizes a story by Jordan Bardella.
Then would come the ideological heart of the project: immigration and security. The RN would like to make immigration the founding text of its arrival in power, the inaugural marker of the promised rupture. Family reunification, land rights, state medical aid, expulsions, Islamism, national priority: the party would seek to concentrating, in the first weeks, the fights which have structured its identity for years to this migratory block would add a security aspect intended to send a clear message: the return of authority.
Making immigration the marker of the promised rupture
For the RN, this would be the moment of truth. Because some of these measures would immediately come up against a series of barriers: Constitutional Council, European law, international conventions, Council of State, mobilization of associations and, probably, part of the street, heated to white heat by La France insoumise and its “antifas” allies. This is where the referendum would become the major political weapon. The Gaullian gesture dreamed of by a party determined to oppose universal suffrage to legal obstacles. “We will have to ask the people to decide what the judges have been preventing for too long ”, souffles a Lepnist bird.
But a power does not only live on borders. He also lives off prices at the pump, electricity bills and monthly income. From the first weeks, the RN should therefore very quickly send an unequivocal signal to the working and middle classes who form the heart of its electorate. Reduction in VAT on energy, gas, electricity, fuels: the measure speaks to the motorist, the craftsman, the self-employed nurse, the peri-urban employee who counts his fills as others count their days.
The bras de fer à come
But the budget wall would quickly come. Because the France of 2027 would not be a blank slate, but a country weighed down by debt, monitored by Brussels and the markets, corseted by its deficits. Political voluntarism would then encounter the coldness of public accounts. “Our first trip will be to Brussels », assume Jordan Bardella. «ÂWe will go there to defend the interests of our country to regain comparative advantages from which other European countries already benefit.“. Way of saying that, here again, the RN would not only promise a measure: it would announce a balance of power.
The great invisible adversary would remain: the administration. Prefects, directors of central administration, magistrates, senior officials at Bercy: so many cogs that cannot be replaced with a snap of the fingers. The conquest of the Élysée would not be enough to conquer the state apparatus. “There again, the shock will be harshconfesses an RN strategist. Here again, we will have to move quickly.“Everything would be at stake in this standoff: no longer just denouncing the state, but commanding it.
These hundred days would undoubtedly not transform France. No power does it in three months. But they would set the tone. Assumed breakup or forced caution? Balance of power or compromise with reality? The RN has long lived by this simple idea: we prevent it from acting. His first hundred days would say something else: what he can do, what he can’t do, and what he would be willing to try to force his way through.
