Visitors to the Six Flags New England amusement park in Massachusetts, USA, had a big scare on Saturday. As reported by the American magazine People, they were stuck on a roller coaster for almost an hour due to a sudden breakdown.
A woman, who was with a friend and their two children, told NBC 10 News that the ride suddenly came to a halt while they were “all the way at the top”. It started raining at the same time. She tried to reassure her 11-year-old daughter as best as she could. “It’s just because it’s wet, don’t worry, everything will be fine,” she told her.
According to the mother, the passengers were stranded at about a 45-degree angle while the rain intensified. After a long wait of nearly 45 minutes, an announcement over the speakers informed them that they would be free. The ride was unlocked, the car was restarted, and they were able to finish the ride.
The soaked passengers were greeted by park officials with dry clothes, food vouchers, and passes for their next visit. According to the park management contacted by People, the ride was “thoroughly inspected” before being put back into operation. Each ride in the park is equipped with safety sensors ensuring an automatic stop in case of any issues.
