Throughout the month of May, France Culture is honoring the new generation of researchers by partnering with the competition “Ma thèse en 180 secondes,” organized in France by CNRS and France Universités.

Every Thursday at 6:45 a.m., on “Les Matins,” the segment “Les Chantiers de la recherche” welcomes a doctoral student, a national finalist of the competition.

On the radio, these young scientists take on a challenge similar to that of the stage: making their thesis topic accessible in a few minutes, sharing a discovery, and showcasing the research in progress.

After regional selections held throughout France, the national final of “Ma thèse en 180 secondes” will take place on Thursday, May 28th at the Théâtre Sébastopol in Lille. The winner will be invited to “Les Matins” with Guillaume Erner on June 4th.

“Les Chantiers de la recherche,” aired Monday to Friday at 6:45 a.m., offers an insider’s look into the world of research, close to those driving it in laboratories, libraries, or in the field.

To discover: – The segment from April 30th featuring Yaëlle Wormser, winner of the Paris final, focusing on antibiotics against tuberculosis. – The segment from May 7th with Mattéo Comito, winner of the Centre-Val de Loire region final, working on facilitating the atmospheric re-entry of spacecraft. – The segment from May 14th with Jean Pauly, winner of the Grand Est final, researching the measurement and monitoring of emotional states in conditions similar to a long-term space mission.
