The Ballon d’Or remains the boss. Author of an exceptional 2024-2025 season, including a Ballon d’Or and the Ligue 1 best player trophy, Ousmane Dembele received this award again on Monday at the UNFP trophies ceremony. This individual honor celebrates Dembele’s overall work, the cornerstone of the Parisians’ dazzling season in France and Europe.
The forward was nominated alongside Mason Greenwood (Marseille), Florian Thauvin (Lens), and his teammates Nuno Mendes and Vitinha. He was eventually chosen by the other Ligue 1 players who participated in the vote. A fitting tribute to Ousmane Dembele, widely acknowledged as the leader of Paris Saint-Germain through his statistics, dribbles, and most importantly, his champion’s character.
Tenth consecutive title for a Parisian
This season, the Parisian forward played relatively little in Ligue 1. Suffering hamstring injuries in September, calf injuries in November and February, the Ballon d’Or winner sat out several times before returning for crucial Champions League matches. Nevertheless, he scored ten goals and provided six assists in 20 appearances for PSG.
This is the 10th consecutive title for a Parisian in this category. Since Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2016, Edinson Cavani, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe (five times) have all been chosen by their peers, until Ousmane Dembele’s double win.
