Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated Monday that hostilities with the Russian army continued despite a three-day ceasefire negotiated by the United States. He accused Russia of not wanting to end the war that has been ongoing for four years. Zelensky mentioned in his evening address that there was no silence on the front lines that day, only fighting.

He regretted that Russia showed no intention of ending the war and was preparing for new attacks. Both sides blamed each other for violating the ceasefire announced by US President Donald Trump from Saturday to Monday. Zelensky also mentioned recent meetings held by his chief negotiator, Rustem Oumerov, in the United States.

Zelensky expressed disappointment that the conflict in Iran was currently gaining more attention from America than the war in Europe. However, he noted there was support from the American people to end the war in Europe as well. Negotiations between Russia and Ukraine have not yielded any results thus far and have been overshadowed by the Middle East conflict. Although the ceasefire announcement brought some hope for the resumption of talks.
