Despite his success, Christophe Maé has always cherished his simplicity. This Sunday, May 10, Christophe Maé was invited on “20H30 le dimanche” on France 2 for the release of his seventh album titled “Fête Foraine” last March. This was an opportunity for the 50-year-old artist to partially break his legendary discretion and discuss his private life in the south of France, his cocoon away from the hustle and bustle of Paris. “Let’s say that at home, in the South, I lead an ordinary life. I am surrounded by my loved ones, my childhood friends. I have my family and there’s something reassuring down there: it’s home. And then it’s the south, the most beautiful region of France,” he explained to Laurent Delahousse.
In fact, the interpreter of “Belle Demoiselle” simply made a round trip by train for his appearance on the show. It must be said that the one who was discovered by the production of the musical comedy “Le Roi Soleil” grew up under the sun of Carpentras in the Southeast. “The heart of Provence: the lavender fields, the olive trees, garlic, the markets,” he confided to France Bleu. It was his father, a musician and jazz lover, who passed on his passion for music to him, although he is very close to his mother.
Despite his attachment to the south, Christophe Maé will have to leave it for his tour starting on June 18 and ending on December 11. But it is mainly his sublime sheepfold in which he lives with his wife Nadège and their two children, Jules, 18, and Marcel, 13, that he will miss. Six years ago, the 50-year-old singer and his wife renovated an old sheepfold with a breathtaking view of an olive grove. According to Gala’s revelations in 2023, the artist had a professional studio installed to compose his songs, as well as a football field for his sons. “The younger one supports PSG, and the older one supports Marseille. With football, they found something that makes them excited, and that’s all that matters,” he said. Despite not wanting to leave Aix-en-Provence, the only place on earth that could make him sing different tune is Cap-Vert. “I always felt there was a bit of me down there. For example, my passion for dancing and the fact of being content with the essentials, simple things,” he explained.
During his appearance on “20h30 le dimanche” on May 10, Christophe Maé also took the opportunity to make a tender declaration of love to Nadège, whom he married in 2017. “She’s been by my side for 22 years, we’ve done everything together. I think if I hadn’t crossed her path, I probably wouldn’t be here,” he confessed, visibly moved. It was in Corsica, at the beginning of the 2000s, that the singer met the woman of his life. “I landed here about sixteen years ago, and I played in clubs in Ajaccio, Calvi, on beaches. I played in lots of places like that. I met the mother of my two kids here. Corsica, I just want to say that it’s my homeland,” he recounted in “Un jour, un doc” in July 2024.
