The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warns the United States against any attack on its ships.
The navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned on Saturday, May 9 that any “aggression” against Iranian oil tankers and commercial ships would result in a violent response against one of the U.S. military bases in the region and against “enemy” ships.
The statements were made in a post on the X social media platform following sporadic clashes between Iran and the United States in and around the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday, May 7 and Friday, May 8.
Iran has tightened its control over the Strait of Hormuz since February 28, when it banned the passage of ships belonging to Israel and the United States or affiliated with these countries, after both countries launched joint strikes on Iranian territory.
The United States has also imposed a naval blockade on the strait, preventing ships heading to and from Iranian ports from passing through. The U.S. military has attacked several Iranian ships and oil tankers in recent days.
In another post on X, the aerospace division of the IRGC declared that its missiles and drones had locked onto American targets in the region and on ships of the “aggressive enemy.”
“We await the order to fire,” the statement added.
