The Henri-Pottevin salon of the town hall of Castelsarrasin was the setting for a solemn ceremony on Thursday, May 7 from 9 a.m. Under the guidance of Renaud Lassince, sub-prefect of the district, several young recruits officially signed their commitment contract to join the operational reserve of the 31st Engineering Regiment (31st RG).
Serge Durrens and Philippe Bon, deputy mayors of the city, represented Mayor Jean-Philippe Bèsiers on this occasion. Colonel Basile Caire, commanding officer of the regiment, was also present.
This event is not just an administrative formality; it symbolizes the vitality of the bond between the city of Castelsarrasin and its anchoring regiment. By choosing the town hall for this signing, both military and civilian authorities aimed to highlight the territorial roots of these volunteers.
In his speech, the municipality praised the courage and sense of duty of these young individuals. “I welcome these new soldiers, acknowledging their deep sense of duty and their citizen engagement. They embody the values of solidarity and dedication with strength,” said Serge Durrens. By joining the reserve, they commit to actively contributing to protection and security missions, reinforcing active forces during deployments or major crises. Through this signing, Castelsarrasin asserts its position as a nurturing city attentive to its youth and defense.
