Trump wants to silence American media criticizing the war in Iran

Each day, “the Trump administration formulates a new complaint – or even two, or even three – about media coverage in the United States of the war in Iran,” emphasizes the CNN website. The White House tenant does not hesitate to use terms like “criminals” or “unpatriotic” to criticize the media. Brendan Carr, the president of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the main regulator of American broadcasting, “threatens on his side to revoke the licenses of broadcasters,” thus their right to broadcast on the airwaves in the United States. The Minister of Defense, Pete Hegseth, is not to be outdone “in insulting the media from the Pentagon.”

Certainly, this is not the first time that the Trump administration has attacked the media, far from it, as CNN recalls, but its attacks on journalists “who usually sound like a kind of low rumble in the background” seem to be turning into “a shrill scream” today.

However, CNN points out that the major media outlets do not allow themselves to be intimidated and are aware that attempts to deter and discredit journalism in times of war “are as old as war media coverage itself.”

“They want to see us lose the war”

It remains to be seen.
