The four signatories of the statement, who offer their condolences to the wife and children of the deceased, trace the film-loving journey of Yves Jardin: “In 1975, he was a member of the film collective that firmly believed in the virtues of popular education and decided to revive the cinema club at the MJC. The collective later gave rise to the fundamental principles of cinema and audiovisual in Douarnenez today. In 1978, he was one of the creators of the Festival of cinema for national minorities in Douarnenez, with which he was long associated for programming. In 1982, he participated in the creation of the Daoulagad Breizh association, of which he was president for fifteen years. Then in 1986, with Bernard Séverac, teachers at the Jean-Marie Le Bris high school, they contributed to giving impetus and coherence to the cinema option from its inception. An option for which he was the cinema history teacher until the day of his retirement.”

The authors of the statement assure that, “without Yves Jardin’s commitment, there would probably not be such an intense ecosystem for cinema and audiovisual in Douarnenez today.” Yves Jardin’s funeral will take place on Tuesday, May 12 at 10:30 a.m. at the Saint-Herlé church in Douarnenez.
