Zack Meisel of the Athletic Reports Guardians Promoting Top Prospect Travis Bazzana

Amid a three-game losing streak, Guardians fans are hopeful that former #1 overall draft pick Travis Bazzana from Australia can bring a much-needed spark to the team. With the roster currently at 39 players, no additional move is required to add Bazzana to the active roster.

Bazzana is set to replace Juan Brito, whose debut with the club was described as disastrous. While there is still hope for Brito as a hitter, the decision to play him at second base as a defender was clearly a mistake.

Having posted a 152 wRC+ in Columbus with a 21.2/17.9 K/BB%, Bazzana is expected to face an adjustment period at the big league level, as he has at each previous level. However, his speed, competitive spirit, and plate discipline will be immediate assets to the team. With Brayan Rocchio excelling defensively at shortstop and showing promise offensively, it is likely that this duo will form the team’s middle infield until Angel Genao is prepared.

It is speculated whether Daniel Schneemann will see more action in centerfield to support Steven Kwan, potentially filling in at left field as well if George Valera continues to struggle. Schneemann’s current batting performance makes it difficult to consider removing him from the lineup.
