The HAC has officially secured its stay in Strasbourg, but a decision from the sports arbitral tribunal could bring back the HAC’s pursuers into the picture. Following an appeal, the capital club may be vindicated. Here is a recap of the events.
At the beginning of November, during the 6th day of the Premier League, the Ciel & Marine team visited Poissy to face PSG. Despite a 2-0 defeat on the field, they were later awarded three points in December after a claim concerning a player’s eligibility.
It was discovered that PSG had not provided the necessary international transfer certificate for a player, resulting in the loss of those three matches. Despite pleading an error, PSG’s case was dismissed in various federal commissions, and it has now been sent to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for a final verdict before May 6, the last day of the championship.
The outcome of this decision could impact the final standings, potentially relegating HAC to Second League. However, a perfect storm of events, including PSG winning back the points and other teams beating top contenders, would be required for this to happen.
In case of a draw against Nantes, the Ciel & Marine would secure their position due to tie-break rules. Coach Maxime Di Liberto remains cautious but confident that they can secure their position with a strong performance against Nantes. The team is prepared to face whatever outcome the final decision brings.
