(Washington) King Charles III and Queen Camilla were received by Donald Trump on Monday at the beginning of a state visit that follows a new presumed assassination attempt on the American president, amidst diplomatic tensions surrounding the Iran conflict.

The royal couple, whose first official visit to the United States is scheduled for four days, were welcomed by the Republican leader and his wife Melania at the south entrance of the White House.

All four stood on the red carpet, the king and the president exchanging some inaudible remarks for the present journalists before moving inside the building for a tour.

Miel and Ballroom

Charles III, a nature enthusiast, Queen Camilla, and the presidential couple also visited the beehives at the White House.

Only press photographers were allowed to document these moments which lasted a little over an hour.

On various photos, the two couples were seen around a low table filled with cups and pastries, then in the gardens in front of a display of honey pots and next to a model of the future White House ballroom, a project dear to Donald Trump.

Another photo shows the group passing by a painting representing the American president with a raised fist just after the assassination attempt that targeted him in 2025 during a gathering in Pennsylvania.

King Charles and Queen Camilla then made their way to the British embassy for a ‘garden party’.

Upon arrival, the queen wore a brooch uniting the American and British flags, reproduced in gemstones, on a white dress adorned with black embroidery.

The jewel symbolizes Charles III’s delicate diplomatic mission, aiming to ease tensions between London and Washington.

“A Great Guy”

The state visit is set to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence.

It was maintained despite a foiled intrusion attempt by an armed assailant on Saturday during a gala dinner in the presence of the American president.

The Republican leader, fascinated by monarchy, is eager to praise the monarch while criticizing British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

“He’s a great guy,” said Donald Trump about the king in an interview with Fox News, “he represents his country like no one else can.”

A suspect was indicted on Monday for an assassination attempt on Donald Trump.

On Tuesday, the most formal day of the trip will start with a military welcome ceremony.

Donald Trump and Charles III will have a meeting in the Oval Office, while their spouses will participate in an event focusing on education and artificial intelligence.

The same day, the British sovereign will deliver a speech to the American Congress – the first of its kind since Queen Elizabeth II in 1991.

According to an excerpt provided by the King’s press service, he is expected to mention the historical ties that bind the two countries, who have always found ways to come together.

He is also expected to emphasize the importance of defending democratic values in the face of international challenges.

The two couples will then meet in the evening for a gala dinner, attended by a relatively small group, in a reception hall at the White House.

Epstein

During their visit to New York on Wednesday, the king and queen will visit the September 11 Memorial.

Charles III will do everything possible to avoid any discord between London and Washington during this well-organized pomp.

Epigraph: Donald Trump, personally very fond of the king, continuously criticizes Prime Minister Keir Starmer regarding his stance on the war in Iran, among other points of contention.

All these events are unfolding against the backdrop of another explosive issue: the Epstein affair and the past friendship between the king’s brother, Andrew, and the late pedophile.
