Organized as part of the “Mines de jazz” festival, the jazz balade is a walk at the Découverte site in Decazeville, Aveyron, with surprise musical breaks. The event will take place on Friday, May 1st.

The jazz balade, which was highly successful last year, is back and expanded in the programming of the 23rd edition of the Mines de jazz festival. “This free stroll is open to everyone. The goal is to discover various music genres, not just jazz, in a different setting that encourages meetings and exchanges. We are right in the middle of cultural mediation,” insist Freddy Ricci and Marc Perez, members of the Mines de Jazz association.

The Circuit:

The meeting point is at 2:30 PM at the ASPIBD premises (Association for the Safeguarding of the Industrial Heritage of the Decazeville Basin), in the Center Zone. The musical afternoon begins with an initiation for all to the batucada, a set of Brazilian percussion instruments. The walk will start at 3:15 PM in front of the suspended gardens. The Diane Rouergate fanfare will kick off the walk.

The group will then head to the top of the Découverte site, the intermunicipal park where nature has taken its course. Around 4 PM, the local group Yänka will perform a very spiritual and warm music, possibly even enthralling to some ears.

By 5 PM, after the descent to the headframe, the last vestige of the deep mines in the area, music lovers will be welcomed by the Chorale du mois de mai.

Jazz Club:

The return journey will be gentle through the blowers building, a symbol of the city’s industrial heritage, with a mini-concert by the Fanfare at 5:45 PM. But the day isn’t over yet. At 6:30 PM at ASPIBD, there will be a café-concert with voluntary contributions.

Enjoy a tasting with Olivier Basset, the cransac winegrower (Mine de vin), and the Decazeville brewer from Mousses du Rouergue (artisanal and organic beer, lemonades). At 7 PM, musical encounters during the jazz club with the musicians of Mines de Jazz and the Hello Musique school.
