Football – Troyes promoted to Ligue 1
With a victory on Geffroy-Guichard’s field (0-3), Troyes have officially secured their spot in Ligue 1. Leading the Ligue 2 championship, ESTAC now has a seven-point lead over Saint-Etienne (3rd) and six points ahead of Le Mans (2nd) with two games left. Troyes is back in the top league three years after their 19th place and subsequent relegation. After a successful season, the club from Aube has made a remarkable comeback from being relegated in the 2023/2024 season (later reprieved). It’s a return from the depths for the Troyes team who have shown strength and determination throughout the 2025-2026 season.
Rugby – The French women win 3 out of 3
After defeating Italy and Wales, the French XV won their third match in the Six Nations Tournament. Playing at Marcel-Michelin stadium, the French women dominated Ireland despite the Irish possession. Three disallowed tries for the Irish in the first half and a tied score at halftime (7-7). Despite being under pressure, the French physically outperformed their opponents in the second half. Mwayembe, Arbez, Grando, and Champon secured a bonus-point victory for the French team (26-7).
Football – PSG prepares well ahead of Bayern
In their match against Angers, Luis Enrique’s men easily beat SCO (0-3). Thanks to their substitutes (Lee-Kang In, Mayulu, and Beraldo), PSG continues their winning streak. This victory gives the Parisians a six-point lead over Lens (2nd, 63 points) and confirms the good form of the club before the Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich. However, this victory came at a cost. On the field at Raymond-Kopa stadium, Achraf Hakimi and Lucas Hernandez were injured – they were substituted at halftime – but the Parisian coach remained optimistic.
Basketball – Monaco wins the French Cup
Roca Team won their second French Cup this Saturday by defeating Le Mans in the final (87-83). After their victory against Barcelona in the Euroleague – securing a spot in the quarter-finals for Monaco – they managed to avoid a trap against MSB. Leading by 16 points at halftime, Mike James’ teammates struggled in the final quarter, allowing Le Mans to take the lead. Monaco held on to claim victory, thanks to the performance of Matthew Strazel, MVP of the final.
Tennis – Atmane secures victory after a tough battle
Facing Ugo Humbert, Boulonnais player Terence Atmane showed great courage to win in two tie-break sets (7-6 [3], 7-6 [5]). Struggling with cramps, Atmane saw his opponent catch up in the second set before taking control during the tie-break: 5 points to 2 in favor of the player from Metz. Humbert couldn’t find the resources to compete against his fellow Frenchman and eventually lost. The two players exchanged a handshake at the end. Atmane will face Zverev in the next round of the Madrid Masters 1000.
