The American Secretary of Defense held a press conference on Friday, April 24, during which he was particularly offensive towards Europe, as you can see in our video at the beginning of the article.

While discussing the conflict in Iran and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, Pete Hegseth criticized European countries, claiming they have been benefitting for decades from the protection of the United States. He described this as a “parasitic” relationship on the part of the “old continent.”

He also emphasized that the United States does not rely on Europe in their war against Iran and suggested that Europeans need the Strait of Hormuz more than Americans do. Hegseth advised Europe to talk less, organize fewer prestigious conferences, and get on a boat themselves, as he believes the situation is more their responsibility than the United States’.

Hegseth stated that the blockade against Iranian ports will continue as long as necessary. He confirmed that a second aircraft carrier will bolster American forces in the region in the coming days to enforce the blockade.

He encouraged Iran to establish a “wise agreement” with the United States, indicating that Iran has a significant chance to reach a serious and beneficial agreement if they choose to do so. Hegseth declared that the decision lies with the Iranians.

Finally, he asserted that Tehran will never obtain nuclear weapons and that the U.S. military is prepared to resume strikes at any moment.
