The future belongs to those who rise to the occasion. Whether young people seeking a career path or adults in transition, they were numerous Thursday morning to gather in the parking lot of the Palais des Sports, well before the opening of the Toulon Defense Event. With the promise of “more than 5,000 military and civilian positions to fill,” the event poster was quite appealing to job seekers.
The Navy, Army, Air Force, National Gendarmerie, National Police, and firefighters – all those contributing to France’s security missions were present. According to Anne-Sophie Gonelle, director of the Saint-Tropez France Travail agency and a department expert in the Defense and Security sector, the focus of the event was on defense and public security professions, specifically those in uniform.
Given the international context of increasing conflicts, the defense sector unfortunately has a future, as stated by Jean-Pierre Farandou, the Minister of Labor, who inaugurated the salon. He emphasized the importance of turning these difficulties into opportunities for job creation, especially in meeting the annual recruitment needs of the armed forces.
The immersion experience provided at events like Toulon Defense Event was highlighted by Anne-Sophie Gonelle as a successful method for job reintegration. She explained that eight out of ten people who undergo a professional immersion experience find employment within six months.
The various military regiments in the Var region, showcasing specialties like artillery, infantry, maintenance, logistics, and communication systems, attracted a significant amount of attention at the event. Visitors were also intrigued by naval models, even though no warships were visible from the venue.
The Village of Defense Civilians was a popular attraction at the event, showcasing the diverse civilian defense professions available in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region and across the country. The participation of more than 6,200 visitors, including young individuals like Tom and Baptiste, sparked interest and potential career paths in the military and defense sectors.
The presence of multiple military and defense representatives, including the Army, Air Force, and the Carabiniers of the Prince of Monaco, displayed a wide range of opportunities and job prospects for those seeking a career in the defense industry. The event served as a platform for showcasing the skills, diversity, and commitment of defense professionals and highlighted the importance of engaging with future recruits.
