France made a strategic decision not to address climate change directly to protect the unity of the G7, which includes countries like Japan, the UK, Germany, and the US. This decision was influenced by the return of Donald Trump to the US presidency and his administration’s stance on climate change. While aiming to engage with the Trump administration through an alliance for financing nature and biodiversity protection, France hopes to secure funding for natural parks in African countries. Discussions at the summit also touched on desertification, ocean protection, disaster response, real estate, and water pollution.
