In September 2022, the first Walking Football tournament took place in Vourey. Since then, this new collective and strategic sport has been thriving in the Isère department and especially in Vourey, with the Vourey sports club. This Thursday, April 23, the Vourey club is organizing a gathering of teams from the area for a tournament under the Isère Football district.
For all levels and ages
This discipline is a slow version of football with adapted rules allowing for a leisurely practice that is completely safe and accessible to everyone. Since the games are played walking and without contact, the physical aspect of football is eliminated, making it possible to play at any age and in mixed teams. Additionally, this type of Walking Football tournament helps promote its health benefits. It also serves as a way to attract those who have little or no experience in football and to create social connections.
The tournament this Thursday evening will start at 7:00 pm, on three fields, and will last until around 10:00 pm. Each match has a duration of fifteen minutes. This tournament may interest former players with physical limitations or younger players as well. In Vourey, the group practicing this discipline consists of about twenty members who regularly engage in this gentle sport, ranging in age from 35 to 70 years, with a quarter being women.
