Four inmates suspected of murdering another inmate at a Buckeye prison late last year have since been indicted on multiple felony charges that include murder and kidnapping. Aaron Haglar, Victor Hernandez, Christopher Velasquez, and Timothy Moss are accused of attacking Jacob Major, 43, at the Lewis prison on Dec. 14, 2025. Major was taken to the Abrazo West Campus hospital where he was pronounced dead two days later. If the case goes to trial, a jury could find the men guilty of either first-degree or second-degree murder, according to a copy of the indictment. Major has been in custody of the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry since 2013 after he was convicted of theft of transportation, first- and third-degree burglary, trafficking in stolen property, misconduct involving weapons, and forgery. While Hernandez already had a life sentence from a first-degree murder conviction in 2019, Haglar and Moss were scheduled to be released from prison in 2028 while Velasquez was scheduled for release in 2031. It was not immediately clear what prompted the attack or if and how Major and the four other men knew each other.
