The Professional Football League has decided to change the scheduling of Ligue 1 matches for the next season, with more matches planned for Saturdays, especially in the evening.
Regulars of Ligue 1, get ready for changes for the upcoming season. According to the team, the Professional Football League (LFP) will change the scheduling of matches in the French championship starting from the 2026-2027 season, which will begin on the weekend of August 23, 2026, a month after the end of the World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico (June 11 – July 19).
No matchday will be scheduled mid-week, all matches will take place from Friday to Sunday, with the Friday night match at 8:45 pm kicking off each matchday.
The main changes concern Saturdays and Sundays. The LFP has decided to schedule a large block of matches on the first day of the weekend. The multiplex will therefore move from Sunday afternoon to Saturday evening, at 8:45 pm, with four games on the schedule. Before that, one match will open the day at 5:15 pm. Three matches will be scheduled on Sunday, at the same times as this year: one match at 3pm, the next one at 5:15 pm, and to close the weekend, the highlight match at 8:45 pm.
The 14th matchday, scheduled for the weekend of December 13, 2026, will be the last meeting of the calendar year. Ligue 1 will then resume with the 15th matchday, which will take place on the weekend of January 3, 2027. The LFP has also decided to extend the end date of the championship by two weeks, until the weekend of May 29, 2027, one week before the Champions League final.
