Families of American military personnel in the Middle East are alarmed by half-empty meal trays, missing fresh products, and rationed supplies on board ships deployed in the region.

Images that have sparked concern beyond military circles. Broadcast by the American newspaper USA Today on April 16, two photographs of meals served on US Navy ships have raised serious concerns among the loved ones of soldiers deployed in the Middle East.

Nearly Empty Tray

In one of the photos, a mostly empty tray is visible. A few pieces of meat accompany a tortilla, leaving a large empty portion. The picture comes from a female soldier aboard the USS Tripoli, whose father agreed to pass it on. The ship, which left Japan over a month ago with several thousand people on board, is currently involved in operations around Iran.

In her exchanges with her family, the soldier describes dwindling stocks, as reported by the American media. Fresh products have reportedly disappeared from the menus, and crews are forced to manage their supplies over time. Some everyday products, such as those intended for hygiene, are also said to be running low.

Multiple Reports

Another account, from a sailor stationed on the aircraft carrier USS Abraham-Lincoln, reinforces this observation. The photo sent to his relatives shows a minimalist meal: a few vegetables, a portion of ground meat, and a difficult-to-identify processed slice.

These reports come as the American military presence remains strong in the region. Thousands of soldiers are mobilized, supported by a significant fleet and substantial air resources. In this context of prolonged deployment, living conditions on board, especially the issue of food, are becoming an increasingly important concern for families.
