At the beginning of spring, the outlines of the future establishment can be seen on a plot of land adjoining the current Maison des auteurs. The building will be made of wooden frame with straw insulation. “The walls were prefabricated in the Echopaille workshops and assembled on site according to a pre-defined assembly order,” he continued.

The 600 m² building on two levels will include an 80-seat cinema, editing rooms, workspaces, a kitchen, a restaurant, and an office. “We wanted it to be functional,” informed Jean-Jacques Rault. The total cost is €1.6 million, financed by loans and subsidies totaling 50%. The State, the Region, and the Department supported this project, unique in rural areas. “We also set up a crowdfunding campaign,” emphasized the co-director. This extra funding was much appreciated. “It allowed interested individuals to participate in financing and support our choice of a positive energy building. We could have chosen a less expensive option, but this one suited us well,” stated the co-director.
