On Friday, April 17, Nathalie Baye turned 77. Known for her relationship with Johnny Hallyday, her last well-known love affair dates back to the 1990s with Jean-Louis Borloo.
Her relationship with Johnny Hallyday captivated crowds. Baye and Hallyday were a renowned couple, attracting photographers worldwide. After their breakup in 1986, Baye decided to keep her private life out of the public eye. Since then, she has not publicly displayed the men she has been with. It remains unknown if any of them were by her side when she passed away on April 17 at the age of 77, suffering from Lewy body disease.
Back in the 1990s, after separating from Johnny Hallyday, Baye met Jean-Louis Borloo. He was a business lawyer just beginning to engage in politics. He later became the mayor of Valenciennes, Minister of Employment, Minister of Economy, and a Member of Parliament. Baye and Borloo reportedly started dating in 1988, as reported by “Ici Paris” magazine in 2020. They met in Saint-Tropez while Baye was on vacation with her daughter, Laura Smet.
The couple was often photographed by paparazzi while enjoying the sea. However, the images never surfaced as Baye and Borloo’s attorney managed to prevent their publication, causing them to disappear.
It remains unclear how long their relationship lasted, as Baye never discussed it in the media, and Borloo remained silent. Borloo later married journalist Béatrice Schönberg in 2005, but they seem to have maintained a close friendship.
In 2009, Borloo was reportedly present when Baye received the Legion of Honour. Six years later, Baye publicly supported Borloo’s establishment of the Energy Foundation for Africa, a massive plan to improve access to electricity in Africa. Borloo even attended the wedding of Laura Smet, Baye’s daughter, in 2019, showing that their friendship endured over the years. Whether Borloo had the chance to see Baye one last time before her passing remains unknown.
