Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot has strongly advocated for a strong Europe in the face of the United States, China, and Russia.

“It is good news for Europe, very bad news for Vladimir Putin who, in his futile aggression against Ukraine, is losing his main Trojan horse within the European Union.”

Interrogated about Peter Magyar’s recent victory over Viktor Orbán in Hungary, Jean-Noël Barrot also rejoiced in “the decline of populist or far-right political forces in the Netherlands, Denmark, and Italy, before Hungary. This shows that Europeans are fully aware that their ability to resist the pressure of new empires does not come from nationalist retreat but from a more sovereign, stronger Europe.”

“It is necessary to open a third way.”

As former deputy Élie Aboud ironically suggested erecting two statues of Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Brussels, “to whom we owe the awakening of Europe,” the minister confirmed the need to see the Old Continent “open a third way in which the vast majority of countries in the world, which intend to remain free, will plunge.”

Also facing China on a commercial level. “We must not just be spectators, but engaged actors. This is how I see Europe’s role, which must accelerate its transformation from a consumer continent to a producer. This is how we have been working for ten years in favor of greater sovereignty. We are achieving initial results in protecting sectors threatened by unfair competition by imposing a European preference in public markets,” Mr. Barrot recalled.

According to him, it is also necessary to invest “in technologies that will invade our daily lives tomorrow, so as not to become a digital colony of the United States or China.”

The minister, questioned about the warming of relations with Great Britain, assured that the British authorities “will find open arms if they want to re-enter the single market, with its rights and duties.”

“More than ten countries want to join the European Union and no other political organization in the world can say the same,” he emphasized to show Europe’s strength. But, he also emphasized, for it to rise, “it is essential that France leads the way. The next year’s election will be important.”
