The accident that occurred at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant on April 26, 1986 is rightfully considered one of the greatest man-made disasters. Two explosions and the resulting fire led to the release of at least 200 different types of radionuclides into the atmosphere, causing widespread pollution. The cesium-137 alone contaminated over twenty European countries. To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the disaster, Children of Chernobyl Belarus (ETB) offers:

    – A symposium to be held on Saturday, April 25 in Paris – A field action proposal titled “An Apple for Belrad” – The release of the journal “The Echo of Chernobyl”

Symposium “Chernobyl Year 40”: ETB is organizing a symposium entitled “Chernobyl Year 40” on Saturday, April 25, 2026 in Paris from 1:30 pm to 6 pm at the Bourse du travail, 3 rue du Château d’Eau, Paris 10th. The program includes a short film screening, two round tables and debates with the audience, and musical interludes. Information about the symposium is available online, and free reservations are recommended.

Campaign “An Apple for Belrad”: ETB offers groups and individuals a simple field action to engage people in discussions about nuclear issues and support the work of the Belrad Institute. The campaign involves setting up stands in markets, fairs, and other events to provide information on nuclear issues and raise awareness about the ongoing consequences of the Chernobyl disaster. The campaign also aims to spark discussions about France’s nuclear strategy and its associated risks.

The Echo of Chernobyl: ETB publishes the journal “The Echo of Chernobyl,” with two issues already released and a third scheduled for around April 20. The journal reflects on the historical retrospective of Chernobyl, its health and current consequences, and the risks of future disasters. It provides advice and insights on the potential reoccurrence of such catastrophes, urging readers not to forget Chernobyl’s impact and remain vigilant.

The various issues of the journal are available for download, and crowdfunding options exist to support the publication of the journals.
