Some demands of British royalty have become legendary. From the ban on brown M&M’s required by the members of the Van Halen group to the twelve puppies demanded by Joe Jonas at each new concert, they have often made headlines.
It turns out that the members of the British royal family also have their own requirements, and those of Kate Middleton will particularly resonate with people who grew up in the 1980s and 1990s.
Specific requirements of Kate Middleton Co-host of the podcast “Catching Up With The Royals,” journalist Emily Andrews revealed in a video posted on her Instagram account on April 14, 2026, the demands of the British royal family. While King Charles III and Queen Camilla, both septuagenarians, prefer comfort-focused requests, such as pillows and blankets, Prince William and Kate Middleton are more focused on drinks.
“The Princess of Wales never separates from her can of Diet Coke,” explained Emily Andrews. The Princess’s attraction to this fizzy drink, sometimes referred to as the “Millennials’ cigarette,” is not very surprising, as she was born in 1982. The journalist also noted that she loved Hula Hoops, crispy rings of potatoes and corn, and would request them “if she was feeling a little hungry.”
A pleasure that now seems to be a thing of the past? Recovering from cancer since January 2025, Kate Middleton is now even more attentive to the quality of her lifestyle. While visiting the Southwark Brewing Company brewery in London with her husband in March 2026, she mentioned the evolution of her habits. “Since my diagnosis, I haven’t drunk much alcohol. It’s something I have to be much more conscious of now,” she said.
As for Prince William, his requests are rather modest. “The future king always insists on having a bottle of water,” revealed Emily Andrews. However, he also enjoys “a gin and tonic” for moments that require something stronger. One thing is certain: he will not be asking for chili, as he explained during a trip to Pakistan in 2019 that he and spicy food do not get along.
