Mangas, haikus, kimono, cosplay: a 100% Japanese culture weekend expected at the Forum with 40 authors present

    The Forum hall in Balaruc-le-Vieux, near Sète, is hosting the festival of the imaginary this Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th of April. Around forty authors will be present for this fifth edition dedicated to Japan. Meetings, workshops, and various activities are on the agenda.

    Attention to Japanese culture for two days, this Saturday and Sunday at the Forum hall in Balaruc-le-Vieux, near Sète. In fact, on the occasion of the fifth Festival of the Imaginary, the chosen theme is that of the Land of the Rising Sun.

    A salon of the book will welcome around forty authors or publishing houses in Balaruc. They will present various themes and reading materials such as comics, manga, novels, tales, children’s books, and more. Meetings are also scheduled. Several activities will be part of these two days’ cultural event.

    There will be creative workshops (Japanese calligraphy, pyrography, geometric origami, role-playing games, introduction to comics, writing haikus), Kamishibai tales, Shiatsu, as well as conferences on the art of the kimono, sake, zen, and the rules of Pâques. Japanese cuisine workshops will also be available to discover Japanese flavors, as well as exhibitions dedicated to manga and Japanese art, including ceramic works by Steffi Pecora and her students, as well as haikus by Philippe Kampso.

    The detailed program also includes performances of traditional and contemporary dances with the Japanese artist Ribo, a “Murder party” called Melodrama Nippon, Rakugo (Japanese technique of humorous tales). There will also be a haiku reading, an introduction to Japanese gymnastics for a long life, Japanese games (mahjong, go, board games). And to top it off, visitors can meet cosplay characters throughout the festival.
