The US Treasury Department announced that the temporary license allowing the sale of Iranian oil held at sea will not be renewed upon its expiration.
The US Treasury Department stated on the American social network X that it is maintaining its maximum pressure on Iran by taking decisive actions within the framework of the “Economic Anger.”
Emphasizing that the department is fully utilizing all tools and prerogatives at its disposal and is prepared to impose secondary sanctions on foreign financial institutions that continue to support Iran’s activities, the department stated that “the short-term license authorizing the sale of Iranian oil held at sea will expire in a few days and will not be renewed.”
The license temporarily allowed transactions related to the sale, delivery, or discharge of Iranian-origin crude oil and petroleum products loaded onto ships before March 20 at 00:01 local time.
It was specifically stated that the said authorization would be valid until April 19 at 00:01 local time.
