Gueugnon – Qwan Ki Do – Champions Profiles

Eddy Brunel, 22 years old, a first-year student in STAPS (boxing specialty), has been practicing for 11 years and complements his training with gymnastics, dance, basketball, and strength training. “My fear of combat has diminished over time. The fight captures all my attention. My brain ‘switches’ between technique and combat and I bite into it as if I were in a bubble.” He won the title of Champion of France in team combat, weapon combat, and vice-champion of France in technique (codified movement training) after participating in the European championship in Munich, Germany.

Kevin Camelena, 34 years old, is a fire safety agent at Paray-le-Monial hospital and has been practicing for 20 years. “I need to prove to myself what I am capable of. I love the fight, scoring points in touch, in training. We adapt to the opponent, to their fighting style. You have to be explosive and agile at the same time. I train twice a week with an individual program at the Bodyform 71 gym, a partner that graciously opens the gym to me until the championships because training only at the club would not be enough.” Kevin won the title of vice-champion of France in team combat.
