Annick Lemoine, who currently heads the Petit Palais, has been appointed to lead the Musée d’Orsay. A series of changes occurred within public cultural institutions on February 24th and 25th. Laurence des Cars left the Louvre and Christophe Leribault, the current president of Versailles, succeeded her. Annick Lemoine was then named to lead the Musées d’Orsay and de l’Orangerie. This domino effect has left the role at Versailles vacant. The new Minister of Culture, who will succeed Rachida Dati, will need to address this issue. With these appointments, both Orsay and the Louvre, with a combined 12.8 million visitors, can start fresh. Since the abrupt departure of their president Sylvain Amic on August 31st, the Orsay staff has been waiting for a decision from Rachida Dati, feeling neglected. As for the Louvre, they can now move forward.
