The development of preventive archaeology and various research programs in the past thirty years have significantly renewed the data on the subject. In fact, the PCR TeR A POTS day of study aims to provide a comprehensive inventory of pottery workshops in Hauts-de-France and Belgium, identifying several centers of painted ceramic production. It is important to examine these productions from various perspectives: the specificities of each workshop, the types of clay used, the forms created, and the characteristics of the decorations. These questions will lead to a reflection on the differentiated dynamics of appropriation, circulation, and abandonment of traditions, as well as the links between apparent standardization and regional peculiarities in medieval Northern Europe.
This study day also aims to focus on consumption sites. They not only provide a substantial amount of information but also address questions about diffusion areas and influences. This will undoubtedly help to better understand the various economic networks and cultural exchanges.
